With “no approved diagnostics, vaccines, or treatments for COVID-19,” according to the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), some people are turning to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for solutions.
In addition to washing hands and practicing “social distancing,” those with an understanding of herbal healing are also opting for so-called “alternative” remedies in the hope that they might help to boost immunity and defend against the illness.
One of the most practiced complementary medicine systems in the U.S. today, TCM, which includes not only herbs but also touch therapies like acupuncture, has been clinically shown to help alleviate many common illnesses. In China, it’s actually being offered as a remedy for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).
Unlike conventional Western medicine, TCM aims to treat disease at its source through a holistic restoration of body, soul, and mind. Instead of simply addressing symptoms, in other words, TCM brings the systems of the body back into balance, helping the body to naturally heal itself.
“Traditional Chinese Medicine is not static, but rather is something that is alive and it continues to evolve over at least the last 2,000 years,” says John K. Chen, PhD, PharmD, OMD, LAc, as quoted by The Epoch Times.
“Chinese medicine looks at the person from the outside in, so they look at how the whole body functions, how the body works or exists along with the environment, and how the disease may come out that way.”
Listen below as Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, discusses the origins of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) with Steve Quayle, who also divulges what he believes to be the endgame of this whole crisis:
Amazingly, some of the earliest scientific studies into the power of TCM date back as far as the Eastern Han Dynasty, which existed from 25 AD – 220 AD. One piece of literature, entitled, “Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Disease,” explains in precise detail the various stages through which an infectious disease runs its course. Based on this, specific therapeutic and herbal recommendations are made as remedies.
Many of these concoctions are still used today, exactly as outlined in this ancient manuscript, because they work. And some could even be effective against this current pandemic, when used correctly and under the proper guidance of a trained TCM practitioner.
“There are a lot of herbs that can be used for the patient, and it really depends on what stage of illness they are in,” Chen adds.
“The first stage is what we generally call the prevention stage. Those patients are healthy, but they are in contact with people that may have been infected. During this stage, the most important thing is to make sure their body stays healthy, their immune system stays strong.”
The beauty of TCM is that it centers around the idea that medicine and herbology is a team effort, so to speak. Instead of applying just one isolated compound, in other words, TCM blends multiple herbs together in such a way that they work together, and even enhance one another, for the purpose of promoting healing.
TCM is also custom-tailored to each individual body, as all human beings have different physiologies. This type of specialized medicine sets TCM apart from Western medicine, which relies solely on isolated compounds tested completely independently of all other compounds, limiting its holistic effectiveness.
